Ferensas Algirdas 1928 03 06 Rozalimas 1994 12 06 Vilnius,Lithuanian Soviet activist.Engineer.1951 graduated from Kaunas Polytechnic Institute. 1952-1989 Member of the CPSU. 1952-56 Lithuanian Lenin Communist Youth Union (Komsomol. LITHUANIA) Kaunas City Committee Secretary, I Secretary. 1956-60 Secretary of the Central Committee of this union. 1960-61 I Secretary of Siauliai City Committee of the Lithuanian Communist Party (LCP). From 1961 to 1967 he served on the CPSU Central Committee. 1967-77 Secretary of the LCP Central Committee (curating industry); was one of the candidates for the post of Secretary of the LCP Central Committee I. 1977-87 Chairman of the Lithuanian Republican Council of Trade Unions.
From 1980 to 1980 he worked as an adviser to the pro-Soviet government in Afghanistan occupied by the USSR. 1988-94 Editor of Work & Leisure, Lifestyle Editors. 1961-63 and 1967-88 Member of the LCP Central Committee, 1967-88 Committee Bureau. 1967-1980 LSSR, 1979-88 Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. From 1989 to 1990 he was an independent member of the LCP. He committed suicide. He wrote books for the Sixth World (with A. Laurinciukas, 1958; about the Youth and Student Festival in Moscow), The Stairway to the Afghan Revolution (1985).
